THE TOUR AT A GLANCE
This tour is specially designed for Matisse-lovers. We’ll follow his steps, visiting places that inspired his work : from Old Nice to villa le Rêve in Vence, through Cimiez.
The tour begins in the morning, at the heart of Old Nice’s flower market. From there, we’ll go to the suburbs of Nice, the district of Cimiez, to visit the Matisse Museum. Finally, after a short lunch break, we pursue our wandering in Vence, a beautiful Provençal city in the countryside, a balcony over the Mediterranean sea.
After the city tour, we’ll go visit the Rosary Chapel (1941-1948), designed by Matisse as summation and legacy of his whole artistic career. You we’ll be ,enchanted to end the day in this highly spiritual retreat : a place of joy, peace and silence where people could witness the transcendence of light turned into colours through stained glasses.
